With AI playing an increasing role in our lives, this award celebrates its best use in a research project. The category is open to media agencies, media owners and research/data companies. The judges will be looking for evidence of innovation and showing how AI directly impacted a project, whether that be the set up or successful delivery and results.

We have worked with the IPA to develop a new category named in honour of Denise Turner, who was our AMRAs head judge and a media research inspiration. The IPA is generously providing a £2,000 bursary to the winner of this year’s award, to train the next generation of media research leaders.This award recognises research projects that have used Joint Industry sources, either in isolation or in combination with other data sets, to display innovation and uncover insights that have informed and significantly improved campaign planning or effectiveness. This category is open to agencies, media owners, adtech companies and trade bodies, and the judges will be looking for evidence of innovation, or of leveraging innovation by a Joint Industry body, to show how JIC data made a tangible difference to a project.

This category recognises the best media research projects that have crossed international boundaries. Projects entered should cover at least three different national markets and the category encompasses custom projects, tracking or syndicated services. Judges will be looking for projects that grew client insights into multi-country media behaviour. Submissions should demonstrate innovation and a real understanding of the practical research challenges in terms of variations in language, culture and media markets.

In a tribute to the late Adrian Edwards of TechEdge, this category has been renamed in his honour, to The Adrian Edwards award for Best Use of Datasets. Money raised from entry fees for this award will go to bibic, a charity that delivers therapeutic programmes to children and young adults and is based near where Edwards lived in Taunton, Somerset. In addition, the company with the winning entry will receive a £2,000 bursary from Barb to be used for training purposes to develop the next generation of research leaders
Media researchers are constantly challenged with drawing insights and driving business decisions using a vast range of data sources. This award is dedicated to the most innovative and best use of a combination of data sets to meet a business challenge. This can cover ‘Big data’, server data, user databases, client databases, return path data or sales data, fusions between them or hybrid approaches. The data could be used exclusively to deliver insight or integrated with survey research. This category recognises the innovation and importance of bringing data to life to highlight the best course of action, and/or excellence in democratising access to data so that people across the organisation and their clients can find and tell the stories that will make a difference. Entries are welcome from any company type with entries showcasing websites, data analysis software systems or intranets, innovative infographics, data visualisation, presentation decks, sales packs, videos and animation.
